we show paintings by the French Impressionists and Fauvists.
In 1906 the Dresden gallery Arnold showed 50 works of French Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. Among these were paintings by Seurat, Gauguin and van Gogh. In 1908, the Kunstsalon Richter followed up with a van Gogh retrospective, while the Galerie Arnold again presented 60 works by the French Fauvists, including works by van Dongen, Marquet, Vlaminck and Friesz.
Both exhibitions caused a sensation and left a lasting impression on the Bridge’s young artists.
This year's winter exhibition would like to build on this tradition and show works of French Impressionism and Fauvism, including paintings and watercolour sketches by Guillaumin, Luce, Camoin and Valtat --- some artists who were first shown in Dresden between 1906 and 1908.
